CAS Advances Technical Leadership and Engagement in Brazil and Argentina
he CAS Latin America Regional Working Group (LARWG) recently deepened its engagement across the region through major events in Brazil and Argentina, delivering high-impact technical programming in collaboration with local actuarial associations.
In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the CAS served as a Gold Sponsor of the sold-out 15th Brazilian Actuarial Congress, attended by over 650 attendees, and hosted by the Brazilian Institute of Actuaries (IBA). CAS Vice President, International Keith Berman presented about emerging risks. The CAS also held a dedicated four-hour technical seminar for over 50 professionals and students, exploring cutting-edge topics including AI developments, legal system abuse, carbon-credit asset allocation, and reinsurance credit risk.
In Buenos Aires, Argentina, the CAS sponsored the Argentine Society of Actuaries’ (SAAC) sold-out Actuar.IA seminar, drawing over 250 participants. The CAS hosted an interactive pricing workshop where attendees leveraged AI agents to manage portfolios in simulated markets. CAS speakers also contributed to panels discussing regulatory frameworks for AI and regional professional pathways.
These joint initiatives demonstrate the CAS’s commitment to advancing P&C actuarial science and building lasting partnerships with IBA and SAAC. We extend our sincere thanks to Claudia Novello Ribeiro (CAS Affiliate Member, Representative for Brazil), Juan Ignacio de Oyarbide (CAS Affiliate Member, Representative for Argentina), Keith Berman, FCAS (Vice President – International), and Frank Chang, FCAS (former CAS President), for their invaluable support in making these events a success and furthering CAS engagement across Latin America.
