elcome to the CAS Staff Spotlight, a column featuring members of the CAS staff. For this spotlight, we are proud to introduce you to Yuserah Nasseri.
- What do you do at the CAS? How does your role support the Strategic Plan?
As a human resources (HR) generalist here at the CAS, I support a variety of HR functions, including benefits, HRIS administration, talent acquisition, and day-to-day employee support. My role is ultimately about helping create a positive and effective employee experience so that our people have the resources and support they need to do their best work. - What inspires you in your job? What do you most love about your job?
What inspires me most is knowing that HR has an impact on people at every stage of their employee journey. I enjoy being able to solve problems and make someone’s experience at work a little easier. I also love that I get to work with so many different people and learn something new every day.
- Describe your educational and professional background. What do you bring to the organization?
I graduated from George Mason University with a bachelor’s degree in public health and concentration in clinical science in 2017. However, my professional background has been centered around human resources, workforce strategy, and employee support. Before joining the CAS, I worked in HR roles where I gained experience in workforce analytics, HR operations, recruiting, employee relations, reporting, and workforce planning. I’ve also had the pleasure of working in both the private and public sector, which has given me a broad perspective on HR. I bring a combination of problem solving, collaboration, and a genuine passion for helping people. And I am always looking for ways to keep the employee experience at the center of our work here at the CAS. - What is your favorite hobby outside of work?
Outside of work, I love staying active. I enjoy working out, playing soccer, and generally finding ways to stay active and have fun. I also really enjoy spending time with family and friends. - If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go and why?
Japan! I’ve always wanted to experience the culture, scenery, and food firsthand. Getting to enjoy sushi in Japan would be a highlight of my journey since I’m a huge sushi lover. - What would your colleagues find surprising about you?
My colleagues might be surprised to learn that I’m pretty competitive! I love sports and fitness, and I enjoy a good challenge, especially when told I can’t do something.
